MITSUBISHI will showcase three new concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show, all using SUV body styles. Heading the trio of experimental designs is the Concept GC-PHEV, a full-size SUV using a development of Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It aims to offer the everyday advantages of an SUV and class-leading environmental credentials.
A wagon version of the Mercedes-Benz CLS sedan will go into production in 2012, the automaker said on Monday. Vauxhall/Opel today announced the new Ampera concept car – a European version of the Volt petrol-electric plug-in hybrid. The Ampera will be the big news for GM’s European arm at the 2009 Geneva motor show (assuming GM is still in business by then, of course). The Ampera is designed around GM’s newly christened Voltec plug-in hybrid technology.
